hummus (our way)

We love hummus.
It is really so versatile....flat bread, veggies, crackers, sandwiches, a spoon....it's just good.

We call basically any garbanzo bean blend "hummus", so while this isn't traditional (no tahini) it's still pretty tastey (at least we think so)

You can really throw ANYthing in to the mix!
roasted red peppers
kalmata olives
your favorite herbs
roasted garlic
anything goes.

today, we did it this way:
1 can garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained
juice of 1 lemon
1 garlic clove
1/3 c chopped parsley
1/4 tsp coarse salt
1-4 TBS good olive oil (depending on how smooth you like it!

add your ingredients to your food processor and blend until smooth
(I add the olive slowly as it's going)
enjoy!

Oh1
Yummmmm-mmmmme!
Oh that looks so good!
And I would adore on some flat bread.
I adore your recipes...they are so different from the things that I make.
Very organic...which I am trying to learn how to cook this way since moving from the south to the Northwest.
I wonder if you might have time at some point to let me know what kind of camera you have and what lens you use to take a pictures like the ones posted.
I am searching for the perfect close-up lens for my cannon.
I'd just love to know what you use...the pictures are crystal clear!
Love your blog Sweetpea!

My husband just bought me a big tub of hummus from Costco today. It's going to make the next week or two so delicious.

And once again, superb pix.

Love how a simple batch of hummus can be turned into a delicious meal. I just made black bean hummus for the first time this week! Beautiful pics, as always.

We looove hummus. We usually make ours with Tahini (because its so so delish) and roasted red peppers. We bring it to parties all the time and people are always afraid of it. Why would you be afraid of bean dip?

I love hummus. Love it! I am not a big fan of tahini and always put like half of what is called for in mine. Maybe I could just eliminate it all together?

Looks so yummy! Hi, I'm Sarah, the health and fitness blogger for Glamour.com. I'd love to post a link to this on my Glamour blog, Vitamin G, tomorrow. It's such a good reminder that eating healthy doesn't have to mean spending a ton on store-bought food. I would love to use your photo of the hummus, if that's OK. I'll give you attribution, and link back, so we'll send lots of traffic your way. :) Beautiful blog--I can't wait to linger here longer and read some of your back posts. You are such a talented photographer! xo

I would love to make this and give it as gifts. Do you think I could can it? Or about how long can I tell people it will last?
