winter wednesday

I'm going to let you in on a little secret.
A little secret that will make you 1000x happier.
1000x happier is aLOT more happy, and we all need aLOT more happy in the freezing month of February.

Is it cold at your house?
Mine too.
The kind of cold where you want to stay inside and do absolutely nothing.

So do just that....nothing.
It feels really good, and I like to think our bodies need it every now and then.

This is my room.
Taken back in September.
It's mostly messy, and mostly used for going to bed too late and getting up too early.
blue.
But every so often....it becomes something else.

My secret napping spot.
I am a firm believer in naps.
I love naps.
I should have a t-shirt or license plate bracket that says
"I'd rather be napping"...right? right.

Winter Survival Tip #5:
Take a nap.
It warms you up, allows your body to rest, and can
drastically better your mood (just ask my kids), in just a
short amount of time.

To some people, this is a totally foreign concept,
this "nap taking" I speak of.

So I've sketched it out for you, just follow along:
the art of hibernation
the visual.

Doesn't that sound awesome?

happy napping.

oooooh! this is something i can totally get on board with! i used to be a HUGE nap taker, but recently, i've been overcome with the need to be super productive. last week, i 'let' myself nap and it was wonderful! good advice!

ha. excellent illustration.

i miss napping, too. i already got an A+ in napping 101 (while pregnant), but i can't get myself to fall asleep in that time period anymore, no, not even after waking up FIVE times during the night. something is oh so very wrong with me.

naps are sent from heaven, i honestly think so. but i am no twenty minute napper like yourself and my husband. seriously i have to sleep for like three hours. but i still do it, my little one still naps! oops!

Sheena, you are hilarious - love your 'self portrait' & nap taking 101 diagram!

Ha! Your posts really do make me smile, especially the Napping 101 diagram. I hope you and your family stay warm! It's pretty cold in my house as well, but you would probably think it's time to break out the shorts and sundresses at 56°F on the thermostat. :-)

We loooooooove naps around here, too. My mom has always been a nap lover, too, and has our favorite Peanuts cartoon - it says, "If at first you don't succeeed, try taking a nap." I like it a lot:)

Funny!!!!
Naps are good, I would agree! I actually took nap myself the other day, and I NEVER take naps! Although I don't have children either...maybe that has something to do with it.
But the nap was good, and it was what I needed. Good tip!

Your room is sooo pretty! I love the pretty white frames. I just painted my room a light blue, but it's kind of brighter than yours.

I absolutely swear by 20 minute naps! They rejuvinate and energize me and leave me feeling like I've slept for hours. Anything longer than 30 and you are left groggy.
Amen to naps!

I was looking for Shannon's comment because she totally does this! Random fact about me though: I hate naps! I do! They make me groggy all day afterward...and I know it's weird, but I am actually in a worse mood for the rest of the day! And then I stay up way too late because I'm not tired and the cycle goes on and on. Justin used to try to get me on the nap bandwagon but then he saw the lazy stink I turn into. BUT I am a HUGE fan of making my kids take naps. :) And then I get to take my version of one- vegging in front of the computer. And I feel quite refreshed after. haha
But anyway, I am happy for all of the other normal moms who get to take naps during the day... and I enjoyed your photoshopping. :)

i heart naps. i have a 7 month old & even if i have loads of things to do while he naps...if i need one too i have found it is better to get some rest than slowly drag through chores! plus everyone wakes up in a better mood! :)

Oh I wish... I try everyday. In fact, I finally just gave up and here I am doing the next least productive thing... on the computer. I must keep trying. Never give up, right?? And I love your bedroom, it looks so cozy and beautiful.

i could not stop laughing, sheena. the body on the bed!! i love it. oh, and my sister-in-law and i invented (probably not invented, but whatever) the term "top nap", to describe our most beloved way of napping. obviously, you know about it too. yay! being on top of your already-made bed is so crucial! this whole post is brilliant. i'm keeping it starred for future reference:)
