A Morning on Mt Timpanogos

Mt. Timpanogos
via Timpooneke Trail (up American Fork Canyon)
just under 15 miles round trip.
11,749 ft high (6126ft gain)
lots of hiking, some running, a little scrambling to the top.
5 1/2 hours total time. I'd like to go back and see how much of it I could run.

worth noting:
-you simply must hike this.
-you may be tempted to stop at the saddle. The ridge looks a bit intimidating to walk along....but do it! You will be happy you did.
-in The Meadow, there is a sign with an arrow that says "toilet". If you follow it, you will indeed find a toilet, standing alone on a hilltop. walls fallen down. I dare you to use it.
-there were so many animals fluttering and prancing about, I felt like I was in a Disney movie.
One bazillion wildflowers+fresh mountain air=the best smell ever.
Happy Weekend!

Awesome! Utah has some beautiful terrain.
You need to come hike the Eastern Sierra's.. Mammoth Lakes/June Lake/ Yosemite area! It's breathtaking!

And then there is Mt. Whitney, the highest summit in the contiguous United States (over 14,000 ft).
I personally have not done it... yet. But my husband climbed it when he was 15 and wants to do it again so we plan on applying for next year (hopefully) and getting a group together to do it (if we get accepted AND can find anyone interested).

Best Hike ever! I cant tell you how many times Ive done that hike. I love that you love Utah- I miss the old place sometimes. It looks like you are doing well. Im excited for you with Robby being done with school too. Congrats on all!

Take your kids and camp a night sometime- maybe not go all the way to the saddle- you can camp by the lake- they would love it.

Sheena-was reading through your Timp hike-I want to be there when the wildflowers are abundant, is July/August the time to do that? I had originally planned late August/September. Looking forward to that hike!
