no really, what am I doing?

I don't sew.

I wish I did....I just don't have the patience to follow those instruction thingies (patterns?)

I have sewn a straight line....and.....that's about it.

But seeing as though I still can't afford an adorable new Easter dress, and I want something new....what are my options?

This pattern has been all over the www these last few weeks--it's haunting me!! Every where I go I see someone else that had skirt success.

I have to try it. I picked out some cheap fabric--so if I my sewing machine bursts into flames and everything is lost.....I'm not out much.

And I'm posting it here, so you can hold me accountable. Now I HAVE to do it!! oh no.

wish me luck.

way to go! that skirt you can definitely handle. good luck.. and don't be afraid to make mistakes. a gathered skirt will let you get away with it.

You'll do great! Next thing you know you'll have the sewing bug and won't be able to stop, that's what happened to me. Now I'm lots of little girl dresses, skirts for me, and TONS of baby blankets and toys later.

I have been eyeing that dress from Anthropologie as well. It's too cute. Good luck with the sewing!

Good luck! That's a cute skirt and it doesn't have a zipper so you should be ok. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

you CAN do it. seriously, it is just a straight stitch and a teeny tiny zig zag at the end. email me and i will give you my phone number and then if you have any questions you can call me.

my mother wasn't a sewer and she has passed the gene down to me..i'd love to get good at it, that looks like a super cute pattern, good thing you're tiny and slim, a skirt with an elastic waist would only be bad news for me, people's eyes would burst into flames, let a lone my sewing machine..(which I don't have..)
Good luck, post pics when you're finished, you'll do great!

I posted my take on it on my blog bootandlooty.blogspot.com a while back & my sewing novice bestie totally rocked it. So don't give up! It really is an easy pattern.

as far as patterns go that is an extremely simple one and is a fantastic choice if you're not a big sewer! also, it's super cute!

you can totally handle that! can't wait to see the finished product. Your skinny little hips would look great in a skirt like that!

CUTE fabric! Nice work! Those skirts are my fave, all over the mall, just always 5 inches too short! Shoot, time to get a sewing machine!
